LIFE IN AUCKLAND.

Attempted Highway Robbery,

(By Telegraph — Press Association). Auckland, This Day.

Mr Ernest Cross, in company with his wife and child, were walking in Franklinroad at eleven o'clock last night, when he was attacked by two bully ruffians. One rushed him while the other attempted to seize a hand-bag he carried. Mrs Cross screamed for assistance, and the assailants fled without the bag, which they evidently believed contained Mr Cross' shop takings. Mr Cross was considerably knocked about, and his wife sustained a sovere shock.
