RIFLE SHOOTING.

Tho class-firing for the Government allocation that took place on Saturday clearly showed that there are somo good marksmen in tho Wairarapa district. Some of tho shooting was particularly meritorious. In tho Volunteer event, throe competitors led for iirst prize, G Hyde annexed first prize in tho Iliile Clubs, and H. Waldon, of Greytown, accounted for that prize in the Cadets.

Tho following aro the highest scorers, each of whom receives a prize : —

Volunteers.—F. C. Norton (Pahiatua M.11.), J. Druminond (EketahunaM.il.), W. F. Bairstow (South Wairarapa M.U.), 50 points each ; Sergeant Brighting (Mastortou 11.V.) and Sergeant MeCardlo (Pahiatua M.11.), 48 each; Corporal Boothain (Pahiatua M.11.) and 0. Marshall (Pahiatua M.11.), 47 each; Sergeant Brown (Masterton 11.V.), 45; Sergeant lloovo (Pnhiatua M.11.), 44; Captain Herbert (Eketahuna M.8.), -13.
