A Dreadful State of Affairs.

Violent Measures Threatened.
(Received Attguat 26, 0.53 a.m) Sydney, This Day. A meeting of residents was held at White Cliffs, where there aro groat straits owing to a dearth of water. It was pointed out that privations *m existed in regard to food supplies, caused ohiefly by high prices demanded and the scarcity of the provision teams. If the Government did not do something towards giving relief to the townBhipi one speaker declared he would take the lead in seizing the stores and economising the provisions, in order to prevent women and children from perishing.
