GENERAL ELECTION.
In response to solicitations from a largo number of electors, Mr P. J. O'Rogan has definitely decided to become a candidate for Wellington City at tho general election, Mr D. L. A. Astbury has announced himself as a candidate for tho Hawera scat. Mr W. F. Brooking will probably contest tho Taranaki seat. It is understood that Mr Pirani, the present member for Palinerston, will support Mr Hoddor in his candidature for that seat at the coming election. Mr Herdman's candidature for the Mount Ida seat will be supported by Mr Thomas Macl'cn/ic. Mr H. Pearco, Mayer of Linwood, is mentioned as a probable candidate for Avon, Rumoured that Mr Glass, late organising Secretary of the Farmers' Union, will be a candidate for Bay of Islands scat at tho general election. So far as the four Native scats aroj concerned, no change iv the reprosonta- j lion is likely, though Kaihau will havo strong opposition in Te Heuheu.
