It would be an excellent discipline for some Wairarapa footballers if—for a month or so—thoy were condemned to play parlour ping-pong, instead of " the muddled oaf at the goal" business. There are several who greatly need toning down a little; for, though they do not own up to tho soft impeachment, they certainly have the reputation of being " rough." Perhaps they arc unconscious of their own roughness; if so, they arc all the more dangerous. Apparently, the risk of playing against a Cartorton team, is greater than tho risk of playing against other teams. Unless the element of" roughness "be eliminated from football, the game is not worth playing; and it is about time that a stand were made against " rough " play, which, after all, means an unscientific game.
