A Tribute to his Memory.
Resolution by the Borough
Council
The Council Adjourns.
Before proceeding with the business at the Borough Council meeting, last evening, Cr R. K. Jackson, who presided, referred to the death of the lato Mr A. W. Renall. He mentioned that tho doceased was one of the pioneers of the Colony, and had been identified with Masterton from the time it was founded. He thought, under the circumstances, they should do a little moro than pass a resolution, and after reading the correspondence, and dealing with business of urgency, tho Council should adjourn. He moved the following resolution: — 1. That the Borough Council of Masterton regret to learn of fiho death of Alfred William Renall, a former Mayor of this town, whoso cxamplo as a pioneer settler, whose conspicuous abilities as a former legislator and member of the Provincial Council of the province of Wellington and of tho House of representatives of New Zealand, have done so much in conjunction with the older New Zealand statesmen in the making of Now Zealand, and, to whom Masterton, in particular, owes its foundation and tho wise provision made for independent educational institutions.
2. That this resolution be recorded in the minute book of this Council and a copy forwarded to the family of the deceased gentleiv.au. 3. That this Council, after reading the correspondence, reports and passing the accounts, do adjourn.
Cr Ewington seconded tho motion, which was carried.
