A very successful entertainment was given on Tuesday evening last in the hall at Te Nui, in aid of the school committee's funds. The attendance was of course all'eetcd by the weather, but considering this it was highly satisfactory. Sir lielliss, chairman of tho school committee, presided. Several of the best amateur vocalist topical singers took pact and Mr J. W. Kirby occupied one hour in a very effective lecture entertainment with elocutionary illustrations grave and gay. The whole affair was thoroughly appreciated, and we understand that the pecuniary results to the committee areof a satisfactory character. Tho arrangements for visitors were very complete, being in the capable hands of Mr T. C. Webb, who had organised a special performance by childreu as part of the entertainment.
