Mu William Watson is again figuring in the press of the Umpire City as part hero and part martyr. Lust session Parliament solemnly made him n Dunk scape-goal and yet as soon as the House rose he was again in the fold with n " slap-bang, here we are again " effect. Was it tore-ordaincil that lie should be thrice blessed and will his old colleagues rejoin him on Ihe Hoard as an acknowledgement of the parts they have played well in the comedy ! J We arc not behind the scenes, or we should know as much asltichnrd himself! The Premier's reputation for strategy is indisputable mid if when in the House ho played the role of Abraham and took the knife to slay his son Watson, we can imagine that he softly sang to himself, " Oh, Willie brewed a peek o' maul." It is no uso for the press or the public to howl at recent developments of the old Punk mysteries; the Premier is possibly too smart for the ivliolc puck of them and until lie plays his last card they do not know that they arc "euchred." We only wouder ourselves what the next move will be! If Mr William Watson wero called to the Upper House and given a vacant chair in the Cabinet we should not be surprised, and if he has any ambition in this direction, he would no doubt realize it, for he is evidently the master of the situation I
