On Monday evening a very pleasant function took place at the .Royal Hotel, when between lifty and sixty cricketers, footballers and friends tendered a smoke social to Messrs Cooney and I'cnny as a farewell, Mr Penny being transferred to the Hank of New Zealand, Wellington, and Mr Cooney being transferred to the Eketahuua liuilway Station. The chair was occupied by Mr W. Barton, who presented Mr Coouey with an album and a pocket-book, and Mr Penny with an album and pipo, as a mark of esteem from their friends and playmates Duringthe evening songs, toasts and speeches were given, and a very pleasant time spent.
