Jlusiness generally is dull, retailers lieiug the greatest sufferers. Local stock SM.SS—The Masterton sale was somewhat interfered with this week by the holiday falling on sale day, but there were excellent yuvdings of the various classes of stock and almost everything sold at prices ruling last week. Grain : There is a considerable quantity of wheal still in the hands of the growers, but there is not the remotest chance of any rise In the price of breadstuff's unless something very extraordinary should happen. Wheat will not recede in value before harvest, but when the new wheat comes in there is almost certain to be a falling off. There are good prospects of an nbundant yield this coming harvest, and should the season continue as favourable as it has done to the present time, these prospects will he fully realised. Oaten sheaf chaff is firm n't present quotations, but this cannot be said of wheat, oats and Hour.
