tFroin Our Own Correspondent), Thursday. ThoTaueru Amateur Dramatic Club brought tho present season to a close last night by a concert and dance in the Public Hall. An orchestra composed of Miss Mcintosh (piano), Messrs 11. T, Dees (cornel), and Smith, Multntlio, and A. Smith (violins) gave two excellent selections. The other instrumental selections were n piano solo by Miss Lett, and a comet solo" The Village Blacksmith," by Mr If. T, liccs. Yocal selections were rendered by Mrs Mcintosh, who was in capital voice, and deservedly encored for both songs, Mrs Parsons who was heartily applauded, gave an encore"Always take Mother's Advice," and Messrs S. IV langoron, Lowe, G. Evemden, and Master Mcintosh, who were nil encored, The comic element was supplied by Messrs W. Smith, C. Morris mid H. T. Bees, nil of whom sang in character, and it is needless lo say brought down the house, or rather raised tho dust, The concert was brought to an end by Mr A. Mcltac dancing n hornpipe iu his best style. The musical part of (he programme wns followed by the farce " Who Died First," tho characters in which were ably sustained by Miss N. Manson, and Messrs C. Morris, W. Smith, and K. Mcintosh, Miss Mcintosh presided at the piano, playing the accompaniments with great tasle. At the conclusion of (lie concert, Mr Gardiner, the Secretary, informed tho audience that n sum of about!!) was in hand, but as Ihat amount was not sufficient lo carry out the necessary improvements to the Hall, the committee would consider how the additional amount could be best raised, Tlio Hall was then cleared for dancing. Large quantities of wool are already passing through the township from the outlying stations. Drawing certificates to the nnmbcrof twenty-two, gained in the recent examination, were distributed in the Public School yesterday.
