THE WELLINGTON PETITION CASE.

The Registrar has reported to the Petition Coiii't that tliere ai-e 5,738 undisputed voles for Mr Fisher and 6,716-for Mr Atkinson, : : " Of the seamen's votes twenty-one' for Mr Fisher and. six,, for Mr.j Atkinson are disputed,. There were % thirteen for Mr Fisher and .eleven for Mr Atkinson rejected asinformnl, which, however,Mr Skerrett claimed should be allowed. Theie were also'left in dispute 36 for Mr Fisher, and 25 for Mr Atkinson. The objection to the seainMls votes was that they wero notakir perly signed by tho Collector of Customs, but the Court disallowed the objection leaving Mr Fislior with a majority of 30 apart from other dis- ' puted votes which the Court then proceeded to exnmine. On most of them there was considerable argument and numbers of English cases wero cited. This portion of the case is still going on,
