GREYTOWN NOTES.

[ From Our Own Correspondent),

Tuesday, I liuve seen the plans for the proposed new school for our town. It is a lmmlsome looking building with a frontago of seventy-livo feet by lifly-six feet. It has a passage down the centre ten feet wide which gives entrance to live class-rooms, and a teacher's room, all spacious, and the whole place is capable of holding three hundred children.

Wednesday. Messrs Hugli McMastcr and Neff King were yesteiday nominated as councillors to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Or J?. H. Wood. A meeting convened by circular with a view to form a Tennis Club here, was well attended at the Council Chambers last night. Mr G. Wyett was voted to the chair. It was decided that the Club be called the Greytown Tennis Club. There was considerable discussion as to making the Club exclusive, Mr Wood taking a strong stand that tlio Club should bo public, as lie intimated that there were several private courts in (he town, and they could easily stop tlio admittance of any undesirable person, On a baro majority it was decided the Club be exclusive and that members be elected on a blackball ballot of live to one, A strong committeo was drawn up to see about tlio purchase of a suitable piece of land at a central site, and submit their report at a future meeting. A letter was read from Mr Bunny, of Masterton, offering to give any information ho could in reference to the working of the Masterton Club, The annual subscription feo was made 20s for gentlemen, and 10s for ladies. Officers were elected, and the meeting desired every member to push things along so that an early start could bo mado next season.
