AUCKLAND ITEMS.
_ « By Iclegraph.-Prm Association, Auckusu, Weduosday. A small steamer called the Waitoa, trading from Wairoa Soulk struck a rock at the entranco offlie Tamaki River, last night, and im a dangerous position, taking a good deal of water. The passengers wore landed safely. MrT. B. Smith's house at Birkenhead, was struck by a whirlwind lately, and part of tlio roof was carried two miles to soaward, and the front verandah ripped off and lifted over the house. The family was at dinner at tho time and escaped uninjured.
