Great interest was taken in the proceedings. Sir Robert Stout in opening spoke brilliantly, Mr Fish ■ stonewalled with pertinacious loquacity for nearly five hours. The opponents of the measure were determined not to allow a division being reached lost night, and they were equally successful as the debato continued . through the night, and the House adjourned at eight a,m, thin morning, everyone being thoroughly worn out. Sir R. Stout's supporters hoped to force a division by refraining from speaking, but Mr Fish and others amply supplied the deficiency. The non-prohibitionist party will strain every nerve when the Bill comes up again.
