Rumours of another slander case are in the air at Fahiatua. Really these repeated threats of actions for slander and for libel when they become of almost weekly occurrence aro very injudicious. They are apt to convey tbe notion that the residents of that thriving township are either a very bad lot, or else,;being quite extremely good, are super-sensitive to criticism. At any rate, they are calculated to give outsiders the notion that Pahiatua must be a funny place for the average human being to live in. This is not a healthy impression to be conveyed beyond one's precincts, and the worthy residents of that newly declared Borough should cultivate a better slate of things. The local press should be able to encourage a purer sentiment, for it must often have the opportunity of ridiculing or exploding the foolish stories which gain currency in a small settlement,
