The Scott-Bowen Walking Matches,
A Win for Scott (United Press Asiooiation,) Ddnkdin, August 8. ,■.■* The final of the three matches between F. Bowen and Joe Scott was ' commenced al the Garrison Hall tonight, wjien the two men were despatched on the twenty-four hours' journey. Bowen won the 50-mile and Scott the 12 hours, and,the winner of the present event will take the £IOO a-side deposited, The track is laid off so as to give 22 laps to tho mile. Both men stared punctually at ten o'clock, and at the end of the first hour both men had covered 5 miles 19 laps. At midnight the'ally was—Scott, 10 niiloa 19 laps; .Bowen 10 mib 14 laps.
This Day. Shortly after miduight, when Scott had traversed 13 miles 16 laps, Bowen gave up, owing to ill health.
