THEATRE ROYAL.

This evening a dramatic and musical entertainment, which should interest not only those of the Theatre «oiii£( portion of the community, but others who seldom avail themselves of this standard source of genuine recreation, is announced at the Theatre. The very fact of its being the occasion of the complimentary benefit tendered to Messrs Foley and Berkley should of itself be sufficient inducement, and enough to fill the house. The town has had established for half a year a Theatre, under competent and trustworthy management, and the class and calibre of tho performances have tended not only to amuse, but to educate, None but those whose avocation it is, are, probably, cognisant of the anxiety and expense which is entailed in the production of the simplest piece, the almost constant attention to details, and the many and various "minutes" which serve to make up a dramatic performance. As genial and obliging the beneficiaries stand in bold relief, beinsf always willing to help with song, dance, or what-not, any evening's entertainment for a charitable purpose, and that in a manner which from the most exacting of critics leaves little to be desired. An excellent programme has been prepared, embracing the pretty Petite comedy " There's many a Slip," with Misses Beaufort and Sutherland and Messrs Foley and Berkley in the caste, which is to be followed by what should be a really first-rate concert. Mrs Paige will preside at the piano, and Messrs J. Coleman, R. Bunny, and F. (*. Moore are announced for a glee, also Messrs Stansiield, Coleman, Gant, and Moore for a solo each, which from either of these gentlemen is sure of acceptation. A lady debutante, viz,, Mrs T, Wrigley. from whom, according to rumour, much may be expected, will make her first appearance in the romanza " Scenes that are brightest," whilst Mr Walter Rapp, an ever welcome vocalist, will grapple with the subleties of a comic song Messrs Foley, Berkley, and Miss Sutherland also appear, Tho performance is announced to conclude with the amusing comedy-drama "Perfection," or the "'Ladyof Munster," introducing every lady and gentleman of the company in the caste. A bumper house may be expected.
