Lena Smith, aged two years, the daughter of Georgo Smith, carpenter, at Ponsonby, was strangled in a child's swing, while playing with it with some Other little children, all of whom wero under five years of ago.

At Amberloy, to-day, a well-known and respected resident at Brown's Bridge, near Amberley, named William Farquhar, was gored to death by a young bull. Not a whole piece of his clothing was left on him. One arm was broken, and also several ribs. The deceased was about 50 years of age.
