IMPORTATION OF SHROPSHIRE SHEEP TO NEW ZEALAND.
A large consignment of purebred Shropshire' sheep left, Newport, Salop, ori 22nd November (says the Mark Lane Express), consigned to the New Zealand Stud Company. Tho animals were selected by Mr Borthwick, of Liverpool, and Mr Thomas of The Manor, Shifnal. Great care was taken to ensure uniformity in the ewes. Such a consignment of Shropshire sheep should nmko their mark in New Zea land, for there is no breed of sheep more likely to conduce to the success of the frozen mutton export trade than the Shropshires. They are full of flesh, and that is a characteristic which is highly essentinl in the mutton consigned to the London market. The New Zealand Stud Company are adding to their already large stock of purebred Hereford cattle, and with the consignment of Shropshire sheep mentioned above, there went two bulls from the herd of Mr Shirley, of Bancofct, and one from the herd of Mr Middleton, of Beckjay. They also took a Jersey bull, which gained honors at tho Yook Royal.
