Messrs Bunny and Beotham mot their constituents in the Town Hall, Groytown, last evening. The Mayor took the chair, on the motion of Mr Bnnny. The members were well received. The chairman stated the object of tue meeting and called Mr Bunny, who regretted that there were so few present, and concluded people were so well satisfied'that they did not care to trouble themselves about politics. He would not revert to | what had been said at other townships : they could read the papers. There had been retrenchment made of £900,000. He did not believe in the uniform ten per cent, reduction. The Property Tax was heavy but.fair. Mr Bunny's speech was a repetition of the ones previously delivered at Carterton and Maaterton, and the various points in it—particularly the one referring to Batkin and Seed wert well received and loudly applauded. He suggested that' at holiday time the faros an the railway from Wellington to the Wairarapa Bhould be 5s and Ys od~ (Hear, hear). Mr Beetham followed, and introduced his remarks by pointing out the disadvantage of speaking second on an occasion like the present one. He had done his share towards giving adequate representation to eveiy colonist in New Zealand.
