WAIRARAPA JOCKEY CLUB.
A meeting of the Stewards of the abovfc Club was held at the Olub Hotel, Master' ton, oil Saturday evening, when it was resolved to'' ask flis Excellency, Sir Arthur Gordon to become patron of the Olub.

In response* to a'telegram from the Manager of Railways, the secretary, was dir'eoted to state that if the ordinary 1,30 train from Masterton wnb delayed till 4.45 p.m., this would enable visitors from Wellington to return'after the races if desired." The local, wants oßhe district will be met by a special train leaving Masterton at 9.30 a.m., leaving Featherston on the return journey at 6 p.ni. This local train, with the alteration in the departure of the second train from Masterton, it was thought would suit the convenience of th 6 genefalipublio. Mr W. 0. Williams was appointedtimekeeper for tlie coming meeting.. . A lettoV was received from Mr H; H. Wolters, the secretary of the late Tara-tahi-Oarterton meeting, complaining of Messrs J.' Desmond and Driscoll'a riding, but the W. J 0. stewards decided' not to interfere in' the matter.
