Messrs Bray Bros., Ltd'., Dun edin, report as follows: —

The chaff market is keeping steady. Most of the lines are coming forward from the Otago district, priefes having firmed up in Canterbury. The advance in the Northern provinces have been brought about by the shipping market being firm and through the weather conditions. Values in Dune din have not altered and best quality is worth round about £5 10/per ton, sacks extra. Poor quality is slow of sale. The oat market has firmed a little. A Gartons are worth about 4/1 f.o.b.s.i. The milling wheat market is unaltered. Odd lines are offering from districts where threshing is being carried on, but millers in the South Island arc ( holding fair stocks, ami the market is inclined to weaken. Tusear. is worth round about 5/7 per bushel, sacks extra on trucks. The fowl wheat market is quiet and sales are made occasionally at 59 to 6/per bushel ex store, sacks extra. The shipping demand is being supplied from Canterbury.. Diniediii millers prices are as follows. Flour: 200’s £l7 10s, 100’s £lB 10s, sQ’s £lB 15s, 25’s £l9 ss. Bran £7. Pollard £8 10s. Oatmeal 200’s £22, 25’s £23. The Potato market is steady with prices unaltered, but e verything points to the market firming Considerable supplies of Southern potatoes have come to hand, and a fair quantity remains in stores Hol ders of these potatoes are waiting an improvement in price. The potato market in Australia is firm, and this may reflect on the New Zealand market. Onions are now in short supply, and prices have firmed up. Everything points to prices still rising. Best Canterbury onions are offering round about £l4 per ton, Dunedin.

Business in the fruit market has been quiet during the week. Fair quantities of apples are still coming forward from Christchurch and Central Otago. Poor quality apples are difficult to sell. Pears are also in good supply and prices low. Oran ges have been cheaper this week than they have been for some considerable time. A shipment of Island oranges arrived and prices were low. Australian oranges are expected to come forward in large quantities this season. Everything points to prices being more reasonable. A shipment of bananas arrived during the week, and sold from 18/- to 22/- per ease. Mandarines and lemons are now offering. Vegetables have been in good sap ply and prees low. Cauliflower, and cabbage in particular have been dif ficult to sell. The egg market is easy. Fair consignments are coining forward, and there are more preserved eggs offering than usual. Dairy pat and mill butter has' a good enquiry. Honey is still offering freely and prices low. Some first class samples of bulk honey are coming on to the market. Hams and bacon are in good supply and the market steady. The following prices were realised during the week: —

Grapes: Sydney Chanez 16s to 18s Peanuts : sd; Brazils lOd, Walnuts: lid. Potatoes: Stirling and Ontrams 7/- cwt. Oamarus 6 - cwt. Piekling Onions: 5 - cwt.
