Mrs E. J. Crosbie, Wairnate, is visiting Timaru.

Mr and Mrs J. Reid left to-day for a three-weeks holiday at Milton. Mrs J. J. Healey has returned home after a visit to Nelson, where she was the guest of ner brother, Mr A. G. Shrimpton. Mr and Mrs Norton Francis and family (Christchurch) left Wellington to-day by the Ruahine enroute for England • • • • • Mr L. A. Lewv.on and Mr R. Cap-11 (Morven) left to-day on raotor cycles, to spend the week-end in Dur edin. Misses Mavis and Gaynar Travers, Wairnate, who have been staying at Cashmere Hills, have returned home. • * ♦ • • Miss Wallace, Norton Reserve, returned by the express to-day from Fairlie where she has been spending her Easter vacation with relatives, • « • • • The transfer of Miss R. C. Humphreys from the Waihao Downs school to the Yaldhurst school -has been approved by the Canterbury Education Board.

“Willow Bank,” Glenavy, a most enjoyable time was spent in music, singing and wireless, when a kitchen evening was given to Miss E. Baikis daughter of Mr and Mrs Baik.ie, Glenavy, whose wedding took place on Easter Monday to Mr E. McPherson, Christchurch. The presents were useful and numerous. There were about forty present The singing icf “For They are Jolly Good Fellows’ brought a most happy evening to a close.

Mr Frank Poff, of the Club Hotel, Oamaru, is paying a visit to Wairnate after an absence of several years. In conversation with a

Mr Poff was well known m connexion with trotting and galloping, in Waimat© in the old days. He is still hale and hearty despite his vears.
