the evil, of noise. LONDON, March 19. “Noise is becoming a national danger, raucus music, loud speakers, gramophones are making life hideous, and medical men greatly fear that the nation will suffer from the present orgy of mechanical music,” says Mr Bowen Partington, in an article on health.
Periodical noise apparently has become a necessity in modern home life, causing nervous ailments, breakdowns, neurotic tendencies, and mental disorders, he says. Professor Burt K a psychological expert, is of the opinion that people crowd into dance halls and music halls because they hear bad jazz there.
