No less than five Parties hic seeking the electors’ support, also a sprinkling ol independents. This resulted in many cut throat emitest*. and weakened the anti-Labourite chances. In several instances, the endorsed candidates of both wings of the Government Party, the Nat onalists and the main Country Party, eppoel each other.
