DAIRY CONTROL
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST PRIME MINISTER.
BY CHAIRMAN .OF BOARD.
(Per Press Association—Cqpyright)
WELLINGTON, April 9
Referring to a statement made by Mr W. Grounds, Chairman of the N.Z. Dairy Produce Export Board, the Hon. J. G. Coates denied that he accepted the guidance of Mr S. Patei son in his policy against the Board without proper investigation. He had gone among the consumers, retail salesmen, distributors, multiple shops and financial firms when he had visited England, and found that the hostility to price-fixing was universal, and was giving rise to much antagonism everywhere. He therefore considered it his duty to cable his views to New Zealand. In conclusion, Mr Coates regretted that Mr Grounds had published remarks that did him injustice, and stated that his sympathies had always been with his fellow producers.
