SAVED FROM THE SEA.

TWO NARROW ESCAPES FROM DROWNING. AT ST. CLAIR BEACH. (Per Press Association —Copyright DUNEDIN, this day. There were two narrow escapes from drowning- at St. Clair Beach yesterday. The life-saving team was having a practice run when the ‘‘patient” took the cramp and drifted some distance to sea. Two reels were quickly brought into play and after a hard struggle he ' was brought ashore, where he recovered. Immediately after the alarm was again raised and it soon became obvious that this ease was ,an urgent one, as the drowning person was drifting rapidly out with the tide. McLean, a High School boy, a junior member of the life-saving team, quickly went to the assistance and he reached the man, keeping him afloat until the senior lifesaving team had manned the reel. By this time the man was near!'unconscious. After a quick pull in medical assistance soon restored the man to consciousness.
