The Carrington Stakes, 13 furlongs resulted:—Grecian Orator 7.5, 1; Persuasion 7.4, 2; Perides 7.8, 3. Twenty started, including Giggle. Won by half a neck. Time. 2min 4 4 sec. SYDNEY, Dec. 30. The saddle of Simpson, rider of the winner, slipped half a furlong from home, and he rode to victory barebacked with the saddle hanging from the horse’s flank. PERTH, Dec. 30. The West Australian Trotting Cup final resulted:—Dumbella 1, Great Storm 2, Ranaau 3. Won easily. The New Zealander Ratana, who ran second to Dumbella, and the ex-New Zealander Taraire, who was second to Aanjean, in their heats, were placed fourth and fifth respectively in the final.
