CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES

England’s escape from the rigours of the white Christmas is amazing, in face of the weather reports from all parts of Western Europe, where intense cold, with snow and sleet, gripped the country, as far south as the Mediterranean, both Spain and Italy suffering. Torrential rainstorms are causing severe floods, with loss of life, and incalculable damage to the orange groves in Spain. More than one hundred fishing craft were lost on the Mediterranean Coast, and a huge floating dock was blown adrift. Six persons succumbed to cold in Madrid. LONDON, December 28. The “Daily Mail's” Riga correspondent says atheistic propaganda ard blasphemous processions, in which young children participated, marked Christmas in Moscow. British statesmen were criticised and (burned in effigy. Orthodox worshippers in the churches were insulted.
