CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 21 To-dav there was a -‘double market at Addington in view of the Christmas demand. Fat lambs, however, were the only class that were forward in greater numbers than ordinarily. Store sheep. —Wethers, and ewes and lambs, provided the main part ot the entry. Ewes and lambs sold at late rates, whilst wethers were scarcely so firm. Two-tooth three quartercred ewes made up to 32/4, ami two-tooth crossbred ewes Lc Fat lambs.—6ooo were yarded, and exporters -opened on a shade more than parity with their export schedule, i.e., Sid for 30 s and under 7Jd for 37 to- 42's and seconds, and 7d for overweights Thu big entrv was fairly evenly divided between exporters and butchers, the latter buying the heaviest weights at easy prices. Extra prime lambs made 28/6 to 32/1, prime iambs 25/6 to 28/-, medium lambs 23/6 to 25/-, light lambs 22s to 23s ■ ' Fat sheep—-There was a smaller entry than usual, but- prices eased by Is per head for wethers, and by from 1/6 to 2s for ewes. Fat catt.lo.—An entry of 575 head met a slightly better sale for prime medium weights, but prices were easier for cows. Extra prime beef made 37/6 to- 40/- per 100 lbs, average to good quality from 34s to 375,, medium 32s to- 345. Cows made from £3 tc- £5, and heifers to £4 2s 6d Daily cattle were in good demand. Best second to fourth calvers fetched £8 to- £lO 10s. others £4 to £7 10s; heifers £4 to £7 10s. Fat pigs.—The entry was small Porkers met improved sale, bit: baconers were easier. At Burnside to-day there was a double sale as the next sale will r.ot be till to-day fortnight. With ar. entry c-f 1395, lambs declined from 2/6 to 3/- per head, but fat cattle, with a yarding of only 260, firmed by 15s to 30s. Sheep were also firmer by from 1/6 to 2/-, and store pigs advanced by ss, but- bidding for fats was slack.
