DUNEDIN WOOL SALE

INCREASE ON TIMARU PRICES. (Per Press Association —Copyright. DUNEDIN, December 19 Aboiit 16,000 bales were offered at the first Dunedin wool sale held on Saturday and practically 'all was sold under the hammer. All sections of the trade were represented, and competition was general, bidding being very keen. Bradford buyers were the biggest operators, but strong competition was offered by Continental representatives. Almost all the super pieces went to foreign buyers. The quality of the wool was better than has been here at a first sale for some years. This no doubt had the effect of increasing values. In condition the wool was lighter than last year, and was better grown and sounder. In many eases values advanced a penny and 2d on last year, and in a few eases a similiar falling off was experienced Prices were generally firmer than those ruling at the Timaru sale. The estimated advance on Timaru was from. Id to Jd per pound.
