HAAGEN HOLENBERGH.

A BRILLIANT ARTIST. 'RECITAL IN WAIMATE. The announcement of a recital by Mr Haagen Holenbergh, the celebrated Danish pianist, in. the Temperance Hall on Thursday evening next, will no doubt meet with the approval of all music-lovers. Possessing technical ability in a superlative degree, and the temper ament of an artist, Mr Holenbergh, on his visit to Timaru, provided one of the most artistic entertainments that have fallen to the lot of Timaru audiences for many years. A native of Denmark, Mr Holenbergh spent most of his early life in the musical centres of Europe,—London Berlin, Dresden, Paris, and Copenhagen. He made his first Australian appearance in April, 1920, in. Sydney, as soloist with the New Sduth Wales State Orchestra under Henry Verbrugghen’s leadership. In May, 1922 he won an actual triumph with the Grieg piano concerto in A minor, at the Sydney Town. Hall, with Andre Skalski as conductor. During September and October last year Mr Holenbergh paid a short visit to New Zealand, and wa 3 heard as soloist at the Orchestral Society's concert in Christchurch. He gave recitals in that city, and in Timaru, and a few other places. He has now been persuaded to give a recital in Waimate and his programme will include standard works from both ancient, romantic and modern schools, a spec iai feature being selections from the modern Scandinavian school of piano music—Grieg, Nordraak, Sibelius, etc.
