The first Wellington wool sale oi tho season took place to-day. ilieie was hardly room on the benches to accommodate the throng ot keen buyers as- ( sembled, these representing all buying countries. Bradford, Germany and the Continent were all buying strongly. The sale opened in a manner beyond the expectations of even the most optimistic. There was some old wool and some bright light conditioned lots ot the early shorn clips, the supplies coming mainly from Wanarapa, Manawatu, Marlborough and Nelson. Doubt was expressed before the sale as to whether America 'was m the market, but doubt disappeared as soon as the j sale opened for she was out for the , best wool. Germany was offering freely for crossbreds. France and Italy sought Pie \ e feature of the sale was the competition for bellies and pieces, which, in some instances, were pushed UP almost to the level of fleece wool.
