NEW ZEALANDER’S RECEPTION.

• LORD AND LADY STRATHSPEY. A very pleasant function at which some 130 persons were present was held recently at Hyde Park Hotel. The occasion was to mark the appreciation in which Lord and Lady Strathspey are held by the large community of New Zealanders in London and the committee which organised it comprised Sir 'Thomas Parkinson, Captain T. E. Donne. C.M.G., Col. John Studholme, Messrs I. W. Raymond, Moss Davis. Perston, Redmond-Howard Cecil Wray, Mesdames Cutten, Raymond, Allington. Wray. Lady Strathspey looked very well indeed in a beautiful dark dress and large picture hat -and carried a handsome bon quet of carnations presented to her. Miss Warren Fisher, who used fo sing to the “boys” during the war, and Mr P. Mavon-Ibbs, sang. Mr and Mrs Ackroyd . had motored all the way from Newcastle to be present. Mrs Ackroyd gave some piano solos. Sir Thomas Parkinson in the name of New Zealanders in London, thanked the Lord and Lady Strathspey for their unfailing hospitality to New Zeilandc where all, and especially the “boys” during the war, had found a warm we’ ome. Sir Thomas said he was glad to think of them going out to their homeland (New Zealand) again, and hoped they would get as hearty a reception there, as would be

accorded them here mi their return. Lord Strathspey (: n’:*- i those present fur their expressions of goodwill to himself, Lady Siratmpey and h’s family, and hoped that all their friends would again come to Fee them on their return to England. He added that they expected to remain about a year in New Zealand, and while there he hoped to do whatever h« could to further the interests of that Do minion. In the House of Lords recently, he went on to say, he had referred to the importance of leaving no stone unturned to make co-operation between all parts of the Empire closer and closer. In his small way he was helping, and was having his ideas put into book form.
