Betten and T. Wilce. The ladies are giving a rose bowl for competition in the fancy work classes. The rules for the Show were revised 1 ,, in some cases much to' the benefit of exhibitors. It was- decided that the prize money in some of the cjhsses be increased and a quantity of routine business was also transacted.

The following debt cases were' dealt with in the Court this morning by Mr E. D'. Mosley, S.M. — Alexander McLeod (Mr Tweedy) v. B. C. Giles (Mir Brierley), claim 22 17s 6d. There was no appearance of the plaintiff and the claim was struck out. Costs were allowed to defendant and solicitors’ fee £1 Is. Judgment was given for Giles on a counter-claim for £6 15s, and costs 15s, solicitor’s fee £1 Is, less costs 10s 6d allowed plaintiff for leave to defend. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the ease Beatrice Reilly (Mr Tweedy), v. Thomas Reginald' Johnston for amount of claim, £6 6s, costs 15s, and solicitors fee 15s 6d. On a judgment summons, Wallace R. Johnston was ordered to pay C. Hood £23 19s 6d forthwith, in default 24 days’ imprisonment. . Jesse C. Hawkins was ordered to pay forthwith £9 15s 6d to J. W. Huston, in default 9 days’ imprisonment. Mr Tweedy appeared for G. S. Meredith and Co., who are suing Robertson Bros., and Lewisham Ltd., fpr £92. Mr Brierley represented the defendants and applied for change of venue to Auckland. Mr Tweedy contested the application, which w T as refused. The case was adjourned, costs being allowed to plaintiffs.

A Native, named Waihipini Kavrena, died at Tokomaru Bay as the result of being rolled on by a horse. He was riding in Lilly country on Thursday morning, when the horse tripped, threw' him and rolled on him. An examination showed that the man had sustained a fractured spine. He lingered un till Sunday. Deceased was fiftjs two years of age, and employed a station hand.

A. young man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court this morning with breaking and entering the shop of H. T- Hunt on February 3rd, and stealing tobacco and cigarettes to the value of £B. Mr Brierley appeared for accused! Detective Abbott, who appeared for the police, said that the young man had been arrested! by the police yesterday. At the time he was interviewed 1 atcused’s- explanation was not satisfactory and he was detained. The police ‘had' since made further investigations and had found' that there bad’ been a mistake madfe regarding' tiie time a document was found in' Hunt’s Shop. He therefore did! not intend’ to proceed further with' the case. The Magistrate (Mfr E. D. The warm weather of the past week with the frequent occurrence of' sunshine, has had the l effect of bringing on the cereal crops very rapidly.
