REIGN OF TERROR CONTINUES

ORANGEMAN ASSASSINATED. T. Waddell, an Ulster Parliamentarian and prominent Orangeman, was assassinated in the street to-day within, 50 yards of his shop. The assailants escaped. LARGE INFERNAL MACHINE. A most powerful infernal machine charged with high explosives was discovered in a cable box at the Corn Market. EX-CONSTABLE SHOT DEAD. Ex-head Constable Ballantine, R.1.C., was shot dead on Sunday at Raphol in the presence of his family. Ballantine only returned home on Saturday after the disbandonment in order to remove his family and furniture out of the Irish Free State. NO PERMANENT GOVERNMENT. IF NOT CONFIRMING TO PEACE TREATY. London, May 21. The Times, m a leader, commenting on the Irish agreement, says that no Government in Ireland can be established o a permanent basis unless it will conform to the principles of the peace treaty. In view of the the new agreement, the Parliameir: and people of England are entitled to a prompt and definite explanation of an event that has not been explained. It appears to menace the only foundations whereon the final Anglo-Irish settlement is practicable.
