DOMINION FRUIT TRADE. TO POPUARISE APPLES. EFFORTS BEING MADE AT HOME Per Press Association—Copyright. London, May 18. At a meeting ofi the National Federation of Fruit Trade Associations, a variety of matters affecting the apple trade were discussed. It was decided to address complaints to the shipowners and th e Port of London authority regarding slow discharge. The meeting appointed a subcommittee to confer with the insurance brokers to try to find an equitable basis for fixing the average sound value of each shipment. It also discussed a proposal to popularise apples in London and the principal provincial cities by means of pictorial posters at a cost of £660 for one month. Even in grass seed the activity of a week or so ago is less pronounced, but the seson is now approashing the “off period.

Cocksfoot has been sold for machine dressed at 8 jd, and for August delivery at B|d. Small hut quiet business has been proceeding round the best figures.

Cowgrass is__quieter, and offers of lOd per lb. for medium seed to farmers are available. Holders of better samples are asking more than this. Sales between merchants for machine dressed have taken place up to Is 2Jd for August delivery, lhe general belief is that there will be heavy sowing this spring.
