LABOUR’S DYING ATTEMPT. Per Press Asociation —Copyright. New York, May 17. Special police in Chicago have been instructed to shoot suspicious persons who fail to comply promptly with orders. This is being done to combat what the officials describe as the Labour leaders’ dying attempt to terrorise the city by murders and fires.
FIRE AND BOMBS.. NEW YORK, May 17. The Chicago Labour war has been renewed by an outburst of incendiarism. There have been three fires and one building bombed. The loss is estimated at 500,000 dollars. (Former messages stated that at Chicago two policemen were shot dead and three buildings dynamited by Labour extremists opposing the arbitration award in the building trades dispute. The policemen were killed in endeavouring to prevent the bombing of a glass plant, the terrorista firing a volley. The prosecution would demand the death penalty on eightprominent Labour leaders indicted for murder as a result of dynamiting. They were not charged with the actual commission of the crime, but with inciting others to riot, resulting in killing.]
