TO-DAY’S RESULTS. WANGANUI RACES. Press Assn. —By Tel.—Copyright. The Wanganui J.C winter meeting opened in dull and threatening weather, but the track was in fairly good order. Results: BOROUGH HANDICAP— Kinsem • ■ 1 Rational 2 Orchid 3 All started. Won by two length, with two and a half lengths between second and third. Time, Imin 15 3-ssees. HACK STEEPLES— Oak Rose 1 Ngakanui .. • 2 Master Boris 3 Ser: General Raven, Kato, War Loan, Lady Lyddite. Two lengths. 4 min. 4 2-5 Sec. WANGANUI STEEPLECHASE— Khartoum 1 Omahu 2 Kohu 3 Ser: General Raven. Won by three lengths. Time, 6 min. 4sec. NEW BRIGHTON TROTS POSTPONED. The New Brighton trots are postponed till to-morrow, owing to the rain, which' has been falling since Monday morning.
VICTORIAN NATIONALS. Melbourne, May 17. The entries for the Grand National Hurdle Race total 78, and for the Grand National Steeplechase 66. The New Zealand horses Lochella and Kohu are included in both races. Lochella was nominated for the V.R.C. Grand National Hurdle Race and Steeplechase, entries for which events closed yesterday. It may be remembered that Lochella was engaged two years ago, and it was intended to take him across after he had won the Great Northern double, but, owing to the maritime strike, the horse could not be shipped. He was engaged in the big jumping events at Randwick next month, but will not be there. The team are to be shipped to the ptffer side after racing at Ellerslie. The Victoria Racing Club’s meeting is to be held on Ist., sth., and Bth. July. OAMARU PROSPECTS. (By Leger.) If fit and wett handled the following should have chances in the order mentioned:— Hurdles: Mandrake, Opiate, Pariform and Bellroek. Redeastle: Blockhead, Kilfane, Sunlit, and Unio. Cup: Lord Ashlea, Kilkee, Mirza, and Tin Soldier. Moeraki: Lord Ashlea, Kilkee, High Heels, and Raconteur.
Jumpers’ Flat: Bandy, Staff Officer Lawsuit and Indus. Stewards’: Counter Attack, Cattach, Pyjama, and Linden. Trial: Stringency,. Paddy’s Hope, Gold Spinner and Queen Ruth. Owing to a bereavement, Mr W. Gardiner, President of the North Otago Jockey Club, will not be present at the meeting on Friday and Saturday.
