COMPULSORY ORGANISATION COMPANY WITH £250,000 CAPITAL. Press Assn.—By Tel.—Copyright. Wellington, This Day. A conference of representatives of the co-operative dairy companies of the Dominion opened to-day. The object is to consider the best means to deal with the disposal of the exported dairy produce.

It ig proposed to form a company with a capital of £1,000,000, owned aud directed by the dairy companies, aided by special legislation, and supported by the State’s financial backing; the directors to be elected by the shareholders, and the chairman to be a commercial man appointed by the Government. BOARD IN LONDON. The directors are to appoint a board in London -which will have the power to control prices and regulate supplies. The Government are to legislate regarding the marking and merketting of all the export dairy produce, which will be made compulsory through the companies; and power is to be given them to make levies not exceeding |d per lb on butter and l-Bth of a penny on cheese.

Shares are to be issued to the manufacturers in proportion to their total export. SOUTH ISLAND DISAPPROVES The South Island delegates expressed their disapproval of the scheme in the face of the lack of details. They had not forgotten the Marketing Commission, the burden of which was left to the south to carry. The delegates had no right o give away the South Island’s “birthright.” THE MOTION CARRIED. After considerable discusion, a motion by Mr Baker (Papatawa) "as carried as follows:
