FIRST MOTOR SHIP.

On her maiden voyage to New Zealand is. the motor ship Hauraki, the Union Steam Ship. Company’s first venture in motor vessels, already so- successful in other parte of the world. Built by Dennys, of Dumbarton, the Hauraki is 450 feet, between perpendiculars and hais ai moulded breadth of 58 feet. To the upper deck the meat surement is 34 feet. The- gross tonnage is 7500 tons and the deadweight capacity 10,850 tons. She has twin-screw engines, built by the North British Diesel Company, and developing 4660 horse-power.
