THE MORATORIUM

MISLEADING RUMOURS. Per Press Association—Caryright), Wellington, this day. There have been misleading rumours in some quarters lately to the effect that tho moratorium might be extended to deposits in the Poet Office Savings Bank. Before leaving lor the north to-day the Postmaeter-General (the Hon J. G. Coates) gave an emphatic denial to such statements. There liad never been any application of the moratorium to the Post Office Savings Bank. There was no power to make any such extension, and there had never been any intention on the part of the Goverment, nor would there be in future to bring the Post Office Savings Bank under the moratorium.
