Following statements of the Dukes of Buccleuch, Bedford, and Portland, nd other large landowners, to the effe that over-taxation is destroyncient estates and breaking r.p rad, Sir Rider Haggard, the no- , writes to the “Times” declarlat practically most of agriculEngland is for sale, entirely owing to the cruel and unjust taxation, which is threatening farmers and landowners with utter ruin, and steadily increasing agricultural unemployment. Sir Rider Haggard views the coming winter apprehensively.
