STATEMENT BY FEDERAL PREMIER. (By Telegraph.—Pm- Press Association) (Received 8.20 p.m., Feb. sth.) SYDNEY, February 5. The “Barrier Minor” Office lias been picketed in an attempt to prevent circulation. There was a considerable disturbance and several arrests were made. Hon. Air. Pearce announced that the Oovornment had considered the dispute, and in view of the 'Empire's need of metals for munitions proposed that the miners should work on four days a week and not on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays as otherwise under the old agreement, pending the Court’s decision.

AN OFFER REFUSED. (Received at fi.5(5 p.m., Feb. fith). SYDNEY, Feb. 5. The Broken Hill miners have turned down Hon Mr Pearce’s offer.
