.LONDON, June 21. The Industrial Council has opened a public inquiry into the labour unrest. DOCKERS STRIKE AGAIN. LONDON, June 21. He advocated money guarantees and legislation was required to punish employers outside the Employers’ Ass< ciation. They must have a standard wage agreement, and breakers on either side enght to be punished and even imprisoned. A man working for loss than tho standard wages should ho punished. GENERAL STRIKE IN PORTUGAL LISBON, June 24. A genera! strike has been declared at Covilha. There has been numerous conflicts with the military and shots were freely exchanged. THE REEFTON DIFFICULTY. MASS MEETING TO BE HELD. REEFTON, June 2-5. A deputation from the Citizens’ Committee waited on Mr. Winter Evans to-day, but no information as to the result has been published. Tho president of the Union has returned and a mass mooting of the Union will lie held to-morrow night. Tbe president of the Federation of Labour will give an address. It is expected that- if the fine weather continues, tho Comity Council work will soon lie finished, when seme seventy men will come into town.

A number of married men have gone to Blackball to get work. The dullness in town is not so marked as might be expected, but business is very quiet. It is a peculiar fact that in spito of the men leaving, the school attendance is just the same as last year.
