Tho appointment is announced of tite Hon. John Robert Sinclair, M.L.C., of Dunedin, as Now Zealand’s representative on the Imperial Trodo Commission in the place of Sir Joseph Ward who resigned. Mr. Sinclair is at present in England.

(The Hon. J. R. Sinclair was appointed to the Upper House by Sir Joseph Ward in 1907. He is a solicitor and has been chairman of a High School Board, His appointment to tho Upper House is for seven years.]

TARIFF LAWS BARRED. LONDON, Juno 22.—Tho Trade Commissioners have decided on the terms of reference and have precluded inquiring into tho effects of the tariff laws, Tho decision was not unanimous.
