ENTERTAINED BY LEGAL PROFESSION. HIGHER SALARIES FOR MAGISTRATES. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.] MASTERTON, Juno 20. The Hon; J.- A. H.anaii (Minister of Justice) opened the new Supreme Court House in M'aStertou to-day, in tho presence of a large crowd of poopie. Addresses were given by tho Minister, Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., Mr L. G. Reid, S.M., and the Mayor of the town. In tho course of Ins speech Mr Hanan stated that the best brains cf the country wore required for the Magisterial bench, and to secure these higher salaries would require to be paid. The Minister was afterwards entertained by representatives of the legal profession, and in responding to tho toast of his -health he said amendments of the Coin panics, Bankruptcy, and Copyright Acts, were required to bring them in lino with the English laws. Something should also bo done to assimilate Now Zealand's laws with those of Australia.
