INTERESTING MASONIC FUNCTION

RED LETTER DAY AT GREY.

GREYMOUTH, June 19. To-day was a red letter day in the annals of Masonry on the "West Coast, when the Brethren from near and far, assembled at the Masonic Hall, Tainni Street, this evening, to take part in the enthronement of Very Worshipful Bio. Jesse Steer, as Rt. Worshipful District Grand Master of Westland—

tho highest position that can be bestowed by tho craft. Tho room was packed to the doors, and the interesting ceremony of installation was conducted in true Masonic form, hy the Rt. Worshipful Bro C. D. Dillworth Fox, District Grand Master for Canterbury. 'Worshipful Bro. M. Pollock was also installed as Deputy District Grand Master of Westland.

Mitchell, and A. Campbell. The ceremony of Installation was a most impressive service, the address by the Rt. Worshipful Bro. C. Dillworth Fox being listened to with close attention, and was much appreciated.

Tho proceedings went off without a hitch and will long be remembered by those present. It was stated that it was thirtythree years since a similar installation took place on the Coast. That was ivhen the late Mr. John Bevan was installed as District Grand Master of Westland.

At the close of the ceremony, the Brethren adjourned to the banquet hall and a very pleasant and happy hovr was spfent with toasts and songs.
