CRICKET IN ENGLAND.
LONDON, June 17. Against- Kent Prince Ranjisinghi made 120. Against Lester Foster took seven wickets for for 21 runs. THE BOARD OF CONTROL. MELBOURNE, June 17. At a social when a substantial cheque was tendered to Mr. A. McAlister who had been a member of the Board of Control, he stated that six days prior to certain players in the“Disgruntel six,” informing the Board they woud only go to England under certain conditions, the following cable was sent to England—“ Three Independent bodies endeavouring, for team auspicies Melbourne Club. Inform Marylcbono anti obtain approval.” A reply was rcceii od only the team authorised by :he|p|oard would be accepted. This showed the real issue was not whether the Board should control cricket. Probably if a reply has been received before the time fixed for the players to give their I decision, the majority would have gone to England. I =
